Bulldog Bulletin June 1, 2026
Bulldogs Bulletin: June 1, 2026
Whoa!!!! Did we just type “June” on the Blitz?!?!?! How are we already here. Feels like only yesterday we were starting the school year. We are on the home stretch! We have a lot going on, so please read through the information below.
NEW INFORMATION
Indigenous Floating Classroom Field Trip: We are proud to celebrate our recent Floating Classroom field trip, made possible through the support of our District Indigenous Department. This meaningful experience helps support the transition of our Grade 8 students into high school while deepening their connection to culture and community.
As part of the experience, students designed and created their own paddles—an activity that encouraged creativity, reflection, and cultural learning. They then travelled to Harrison Lake, where they paddled together down the river, connecting with the land, the water, and each other in a powerful and memorable way.
This unique opportunity provided students with a chance to build confidence, strengthen relationships, and experience learning beyond the classroom.
A special thank you to Ms. Orth, Ms. Sepke, and Ms. Widdifield for their leadership and support in making this experience possible for our students.
District Instructional Support Staff Appreciation Day: We are proud to celebrate Abbotsford School District’s Instructional Support Staff Appreciation Day. This is a special opportunity to recognize the incredible work of our Educational Assistants (EAs), Youth Care Workers (YCWs), and Indigenous Support Workers (ISWs).
Every day, these dedicated staff members build strong relationships with students, provide care and encouragement, and help create safe, inclusive learning environments. Their work often happens behind the scenes, but its impact is felt in every classroom and hallway. They support students through challenges, celebrate successes, and help each learner feel seen, valued, and capable.
Our instructional support staff are an important part of our Bulldog Family. We are grateful for the compassion, patience, and commitment they bring to our school each and every day.
Yearbooks for Sale: Yearbooks are now available for purchase on School Cash Online for $35. Be sure to place your order early! Only pre‑orders are guaranteed, as there will be a limited number of extra copies available. Don’t miss out on capturing this year’s memories—order yours today!
Library Books Due To LLC: All library books are due back to the Learning Commons this Friday. Please take a few minutes at home to help your child check for any outstanding books. Any books not returned will be charged to student accounts. Thank you for helping us keep our library collection complete and ready for everyone to enjoy!
Portable Climbing Wall: This week, we will be having a portable climbing wall brought in as part of our PE program. All students will have the opportunity to participate provided they have signed the permission waiver. If you have any questions, please reach out to Mr Eberhardt.
Reunification Drill: This Thursday, we will be holding a reunification drill to practice how we would safely return students to their parents or caregivers in the event of a major emergency.
As part of this practice:
-
The whole school will take part in an earthquake evacuation drill to the field.
-
A small group of students will then participate in a reunification process with a designated adult.
-
All other students will return to class after the drill.
Families who are participating in the reunification portion have been notified.
If you have any questions, please contact the school office.
District Track and Field Meet: This Friday is the Abbotsford District Track and Field meet is being held at Rotary Stadium. Over 100 of our Bulldog athletes have qualified to compete in a variety of different events. We are excited to have such great representation and wish all our athletes well. If you child was invited, they would already have been notified.
National Indigenous Peoples Day Event: This Friday, several of our Indigenous students will be attending a district-sponsored event at Mill Lake Park to honour and commemorate National Indigenous Peoples Day! This will be a great opportunity to connect with culture and the land. Thank you to Ms Orth for helping to organize this amazing event.
Pride Month at Howe Middle 🌈: June is Pride Month, and at Colleen and Gordie Howe Middle School we’re proud to celebrate our diverse and welcoming community. Throughout the month, students and staff will take part in simple, inclusive activities that highlight kindness, respect, and belonging for everyone. Our goal is clear: every student should feel safe, seen, and valued—just as they are. Pride Month is a great reminder that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference. 🐾
Indigo Adopt a School Fundraiser: Howe Middle is the recipient of the Indigo Adopt a School Fundraiser slated to begin September 2026 and runs for 4 weeks. 100% of donations to the host store, Coles in SevenOaks, will go to our school LLC for books. We need your help. If you have chapter books that are in nearly new condition and have a publishing date of 2000 or earlier (ficton/nonfiction/YA/middle/adult) please bring to the LLC before the school year ends. This will help with our fundraising efforts.
