NEW INFORMATION

District Track and Field Meet: Congratulations to all of our athletes who earned the right to compete at the Abbotsford District Track and Field Meet. Our Bulldogs represented Howe so well with many medals earned in a variety of events. We even had a student miss out on a 20 year old record by the smallest of margins. Thank you Ms Ledbrook for all your work in organizing this great day and to Ms Smith, Ms Gill, Mr Dutt and Ms Galloway for attending and helping out.

Spirit Week: Some students in Ms Ledbrook’s class have organized a Spirit Week as part of their community project. This week we will have some fun with the following themes:

  • Monday is Grade Colours Day: Grade 6 is Red; Grade 7 is Green; Grade 8 is Blue

  • Tuesday is Pajama Day: Dress up in your PJs

  • Wednesday is School Spirit Day: Wear your favourite Howe gear or school colours

  • Thursday is Jersey Day: Wear a jersey of your favourite team

  • Friday is Twin Day: Dress up like twins with your friends

Upcoming Events: We have a busy time from now until the end of the school year. We have some major events coming up both at the grade and school-wide level along with many pod and classroom activities. Below is a list of the bigger events, but please be sure to read the communication from your child's classroom teacher about all the events and necessary permission forms:

  • June 10th: Playland Field Trip (Grade 8s)

  • June 15th: Spring Band Concert

  • June 17th: Athletic Awards Baquet

  • June 18th: Cultus Lake Field Trip (Grade 6s/7s)

  • Last Week: Class / Pod Field Trips

INFORMATION FROM LAST WEEK

Indigenous Floating Classroom Field Trip: We are proud to celebrate our recent Floating Classroom field trip, made possible through the support of our District Indigenous Department. This meaningful experience helps support the transition of our Grade 8 students into high school while deepening their connection to culture and community.

As part of the experience, students designed and created their own paddles—an activity that encouraged creativity, reflection, and cultural learning. They then travelled to Harrison Lake, where they paddled together down the river, connecting with the land, the water, and each other in a powerful and memorable way.

This unique opportunity provided students with a chance to build confidence, strengthen relationships, and experience learning beyond the classroom.

A special thank you to Ms. Orth, Ms. Sepke, and Ms. Widdifield for their leadership and support in making this experience possible for our students.

Pride Month at Howe Middle 🌈: June is Pride Month, and at Colleen and Gordie Howe Middle School we’re proud to celebrate our diverse and welcoming community. Throughout the month, students and staff will take part in simple, inclusive activities that highlight kindness, respect, and belonging for everyone. Our goal is clear: every student should feel safe, seen, and valued—just as they are. Pride Month is a great reminder that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference. 🐾

Indigo Adopt a School Fundraiser: Howe Middle is the recipient of the Indigo Adopt a School Fundraiser slated to begin September 2026 and runs for 4 weeks. 100% of donations to the host store, Coles in SevenOaks, will go to our school LLC for books.  We need your help.  If you have chapter books that are in nearly new condition and have a publishing date of 2000 or earlier (ficton/nonfiction/YA/middle/adult) please bring to the LLC before the school year ends.  This will help with our fundraising efforts.
