Bulldogs Bulletin: September 22, 2025

Happy Sunday!!! Hopefully everyone enjoyed their weekend! Was so great to see so many of our families at last week's Meet The Teacher Night! The connection between school and home is so crucial to student success. Here is what's coming up this week.

NEW INFORMATION

Terry Fox Run A Success: Thank you to all our families who donated money towards the Terry Fox Foundation. We had an amazing event at Howe Middle on Friday afternoon with our students learning a bit about this national hero and then partaking in a run on our field! It is amazing that 45 years later Terry Fox's legacy lives on!

Verification and Re-unification Forms: On Friday we sent two VERY IMPORTANT forms home with students. The first is the verification form (blue). This contains important demographic information that needs to be updated and returned to the school. Even if there are no changes, please sign it and send it back. The other one is a re-unification form yellow) that we would use in case of a major event (earthquake, etc). This gives us permission to release your child to trusted adults should you not be able to get to the school. Both the blue and yellow form need to be returned to the school no later than Friday September 26th.

Orange Shirt Day: This Friday September 26th we will be recognizing Orange Shirt Day. This is an important opportunity to honour the Indigenous children that survived the residential school system and those who never made it home. We are asking all our Bulldogs to wear an orange shirt! Students will be participating in a variety of learning activities that day.

Upcoming Non-Instructional Days: A reminder to families that Monday September 29th is a Professional Development Day. Staff will be participating in learning centered on Truth and Reconciliation. Tuesday September 30th is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Schools are closed for this stat holiday.

E-Scooters: Please see the following message from the Abby Police Department regarding the use of E-Scooters. We will be working with our students currently using this to abide by the APD expectations:

Electric Kick Scooters – Know the Rules in Abbotsford

Thinking of riding an electric kick scooter around town? Here’s what you need to know:

Electric kick scooters are currently not permitted on public roads or sidewalks in Abbotsford.

Only select communities in B.C. are part of the provincial Electric Kick Scooter Pilot Project—and Abbotsford is not one of them.

Operating an electric kick scooter outside of designated pilot communities could result in a $109 violation ticket for “Operating Electric Kick Scooter Where Prohibited”.

For more info and to see which communities are participating, visit:

Chocolate Sales: One of the big fundraisers we do each year is our chocolate sales. Students will be coming home with boxes to sell to family and friends. They do not need to be going door to door to sell them. Please note they are responsible for any boxes they take and will be charged should they not return them. If you have any questions, please reach out to Mr Murphy (patrick.murphy@abbyschools.ca)

INFORMATION FROM LAST WEEK

Verification Form: In the next week or so, we will be sending home verification forms for families to check over and send back to the school. This is important demographic information for us so please be on the lookout for this.
