NEW INFORMATION

Parent Teacher Conference Booking: We have our first term parent / teacher conferences coming up next week on October 21st and 22nd. This is a great time for parents and caregivers to connect directly with your child's teachers to discuss progress during the first term and set goals for the time before report cards come home. On Tuesday, parents will receive a link to our School Appointments Online program to book a slot with their pod teachers. Please be sure you do this to ensure you get some feedback on how your child is progressing.

IEP Meetings: Over the next couple weeks, any students who have a Ministry Designation will be contacted by our LSS department to set up an Individual Education Plan meeting. This is an opportunity to set specific goals for students. We have many meetings to coordinate so your patience as we go through this process is appreciated.

Student Vote: On Friday October 16th, our Bulldogs will be participating in the provincial Student Vote program. In class they have been learning about how local governments work and doing research on a variety of candidates. At the end of the week, this learning culminates in a mock vote scenario where they pick those who best align with their own goals and beliefs. It is amazing that our students get to participate in this real-life learning opportunity.

Great BC Shakeout Earthquake Drill: This Thursday, Howe Middle will be joining many schools and organizations across the province in the annual Great BC Shakeout event. This is a great time for families to think about their preparedness for an earthquake including communication scenarios and necessary supplies. You can CLICK HERE for more information.

LLC Pop Up Sale: Our Learning Commons Library (Room 200) is hosting a fun Pop-Up Shop on Wednesday, October 21 (12:30-2:30 p.m. and 4:30-7:30 p.m.) and Thursday, October 22 (12:30-2:30 p.m.)! Students and families can browse a variety of affordable items, including stickers, bookmarks, stationery, candies, chips, chocolate bars, and poster giveaways. This is a great chance to pick up a few fun treats while supporting the library. Please note: cash only. We hope to see you there! 📚🍫 🎉

INFORMATION FROM LAST WEEK

Celebrating World Teachers’ Day: On World Teachers’ Day, we proudly recognize and celebrate the incredible educators who make our school such a special place. Every day, our dedicated and hardworking staff bring passion, care, and commitment to supporting students both in and out of the classroom. We are grateful for the positive impact they have on the lives of our Bulldogs and are proud to work alongside such an outstanding team. Thank you for all that you do to inspire, encourage, and help our students succeed. 💙🐾

Student Reunification & Student Information Verification Forms: Early this week, your student will bring home Student Reunification Form and Student Information Verification Form. These should be completed and returned to school by Friday, October 9th. These forms provide important emergency contact and student information and help us ensure our records are accurate and up to date. Instructions for the green Reunification form are on the back side of the paper. Please return the blue Student Information Verification form signed whether you have updated information or not. Thank you for your prompt attention to this important matter.

Extra-Curricular Activities: Now that we have a few weeks under our belt, we have a lot of our extra curricular activities and sports up and running. Please be sure to check the schedule below and encourage your child to try one of these great clubs or look to start one of their own.

Indigo Adopt a School Fundraiser: Gordie Howe's fundraiser ends this weekend, October 4th and we are happy to report that both the Nelson and Sevenoaks Coles' Stores have exceeded their goals. They project to raise $2,000.00 for our school library. Thank you, families and Indigo!

PAC NEWS
Neufeld Farm Fundraiser: We will be starting our next fundraiser shortly using Neufeld Farms! We will send home an online link that will allow parents to order a variety of items with partial proceeds going to help support our Bulldogs! It will run from October 15th until November 2nd.

You Are The PAC: A reminder to all our families that having a student at Colleen and Gordie Howe Middle School means you are already part of our PAC! We will be sharing the schedule for meetings shortly so please be on the lookout and make plans to attend.
